Unexpected Acts of Courage and Redemption in a Verbal Clash

Every day holds the potential for surprising encounters and unexpected outcomes. A few years ago, during my return home, I witnessed an intense verbal altercation in front of a zebra crossing that would change my perspective on human behavior and the power of moral actions.

The Inciting Incident

As we were waiting for our autorickshaw, two individuals caught my attention. Person B, the cyclist, and Person E, the passenger in an e-rickshaw, were engaged in a heated debate. Their argument escalated to such a level that it almost turned into a physical altercation. Let me recount the incident in detail.

The Verbal Clash

Person B was determined to demonstrate his supposed masculinity, asserting, 'Chal phir mai dikhata hu asli mard kisse kehete hai!!' (I will show you what a real man is called!!!!!)

Person E, undeterred, retorted, 'Mai bhi dikhata hu aaja!!' (I will also show you come)!

The passenger, realizing the potential for a fight, declared, 'Mai in sab lafdo mei nehi pad raha mai toh chala!!' (I am not getting in such fights, I am going!!), and walked away.

Person E then prodded, 'are paise toh deke jao!!' (Hey, give money, then go!!)

The passenger countered, 'Yeh sab ladai karna achhi baat nehi hai pyaar se baat karna chahiye!!' (Doing these fights is not good, we must talk nicely!!)

Person E looked for a way out, saying, 'Toh- So-' (So-)

Just then, a thief saw an opportunity and quietly slipped into the e-rickshaw.

The Escalation

Person B quickly intervened, stopping the thief by grabbing him by the collar, shouting, 'Abe saale ruk jaa!!!! Hey bad word, stop!!!!

Person E and the passenger turned around and saw what was happening. The thief pleaded, 'Mujhe jaane do please!!!! Let me go please!!!!'

Person B confronted him, 'Sharam nehi aati tujhe kisiki cheez churate hue!!' (Dont you have any shame while stealing someones thing)

Person B forcefully slammed the thief to the ground, and Person E then grabbed him by the collar and slapped him.

Person E continued, 'Kamine mera rickshaw chura raha tha!!! Abhi batata hu!!! bad word you were stealing my rickshaw!!! Let me tell you now!!!'

Person B added, 'Sab ke sab log isko jute maaro!!!!! Everyone beat this person with shoes!!!!!'

People surrounding them began to beat the thief with their shoes.

The Unexpected Resolution

The incident quickly transformed. As the thief was taken away by the crowd, a conversation ensued. Person E, later, said, 'Mujhe maaf kardo bhai maine tumko galat samjha' (Forgive me brother, I misunderstood you).

Person B responded, 'Are koi baat nehi bhai meri bhi galti thi' (Hey its nothing, I was also at fault).

Person E extended his gratitude, 'Tumne toh meri rickshaw chori hone se bacha liya Dhanyavaad!!! You saved my rickshaw from getting stolen Thank You!!!'

Person B affirmed, 'Yeh toh mera farz tha!!! It was my duty!!!'

The passenger, seemingly amused by the situation, said, 'Yeh dosti dekh kar mujhe bahut achha laga' (Looking at this friendship, makes me feel good).

With a playful tone, Person E said, 'Ab toh paise dedoge na' (Now you will give money right),

Person B replied, 'Ha bhai ab dedunga!!! Yes brother now I will give' (Ha brother, now I will give)

The atmosphere relaxed, and everyone laughed. The traffic resumed its normal flow as Person B rode away on his bicycle while the passenger and Person E departed in the e-rickshaw. The event highlighted the power of human interaction and the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions.
