Intrigued and amused, I found Bambino chasing after her around the corner of the house. I heard a fierce chase, which I couldn’t resist but to laugh at. Often, Pascha avoids any physical confrontation, but on this night, Bambino got the upper hand. The best part is, when Bambino returned, he didn’t just recover his breath; he caused quite a disruption. He chewed the bottom out of Pascha's bed, which only made the situation even funnier.

A Laugh and a Lesson: Buster and the Rescued Wire-Haired Terrier

Our Westie, Buster, often joins us at a dog meetup at a high school baseball field, where the dogs can run free and interact for an hour or so. One day, a man brought his Wired-Haired Terrier, a rescued female who had a difficult past and was on a lead, to the meetup. The regular dogs all went over to greet her, but soon realized she was struggling with the sudden attention and retreats to her timid corner.

Amidst the interactions, we noticed a rowdy young Labrador who persisted in wanting to play with her. Buster, finding a stick to chew on, decided to intervene. He dropped his stick, ran over to the Labrador, and chased it away, roaring at it. His stick returned to his side as soon as the Labrador retreated to a safe distance. This interaction repeated one more time, and just as the Labrador was getting the hint and leaving the Wire-Haired Terrier alone, its owner joined in, cheering Buster on.
