Medication Reminder: A Pup's Dedication

A touching instance occurred when my medication routine met my furry companion's instincts. I give my dog a cookie whenever I take my prescribed antidepressants, in the hopes that he will eventually remind me if a week has passed without the medicine. Usually, I return to the bathroom at a consistent time, but occasionally, I do not. Instead of relying on time, I am teaching him that it's the first time I go to the bathroom after waking up. Recently, I forgot to call him over, but he stayed by my door until I pretended to take my medicine, even after receiving his cookie. Today, I needed to run to the bathroom without taking the medication. However, he blocked the door until I completed my dose. This is not the intended way for him to alert me, but he is indeed ensuring I take my antidepressants every morning, making me a proud dog mom.

Unmatched Canine Intelligence: A Border Collie Success Story

My brown and white Border Collie, Max, has always been unusually intelligent. At a young age, he exhibited an impressive aptitude for learning commands and tricks. He learned to sit, stay, and shake hands with remarkable speed, and was always impressing me with his ability to pick up on new things quickly.

One of the most impressive actions Max performed was when he was about two years old. One night, I was getting ready for bed when I heard a loud crash from downstairs. It sounded like something had fallen off the kitchen counter. Rushing downstairs, I found Max standing in the middle of the kitchen, looking rather proud. It turned out that he had used his nose to open the cupboard where I kept his dog biscuits and had taken a snack for himself. Since that night, Max has shown an amazing aptitude for opening cupboard doors, wherever I hide the treats.

Max's problem-solving skills go beyond just opening doors. He can also recognize the sound of my returning car and welcomes me home eagerly. When my companions are out on walks, Max always knows his way around. In the woods near our house, he acts as a guide, leading us to the park or even the local store, just as if he had a built-in GPS system.

Moreover, Max can sense when I'm feeling stressed or upset and tries to comfort me by laying beside me or putting his head in my lap. It's clear to me that he can understand the world around him better than most dogs.

Conclusion

Max's intelligence has amazed me time and time again. His ability to be one step ahead of me is truly remarkable, and it's clear that he understands his environment better. I'm incredibly lucky to have such an amazing companion. There may be many other intelligent things Max can do that I haven't even realized yet.
