Ingredients

1 cup grated coconut 2-3 green chilies, adjust according to your spice preference 1/2 inch piece of ginger 2-3 cloves of garlic 1 tablespoon roasted chana dal (split chickpeas) Salt to taste Water as needed for blending For tempering: 1 tablespoon oil, 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds, 1/2 teaspoon urad dal (split black gram), a few curry leaves

Instructions

In a blender, add grated coconut, green chilies, ginger, garlic, roasted chana dal, and salt. Blend the ingredients until a coarse paste is formed. Gradually add water to achieve your desired consistency. Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl. For tempering, heat oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and urad dal. Let them splutter until they pop. Add curry leaves and fry for a few seconds until crisp. Pour the tempering over the prepared chutney. Mix well and serve with hot idlis.
