Has My Donut Buying Habit Changed Over the Years?
Remember when I used to buy donuts every week? In the old days, it was quite a regular occurrence. However, it has been a long time since I last bought a donut, and I don't think I will be doing so anytime soon.
Firstly, due to geographical constraints, donuts are not easily accessible in my current location. Additionally, even if they were available, I am in no hurry to buy them, not on a weekly, monthly, or yearly basis. In fact, I may only purchase them once or twice a year, if that.
Long Car Commute to Tokyo
For a while, particularly during the years I had a long car commute to Tokyo, I was buying doughnuts a couple of times a month. The convenience of having a bite to eat while driving made it a viable option. However, with my current work situation, everything is done online and from home, resulting in substantial and healthier breakfasts taking their place, with donuts no longer a part of my routine.
Workplace Donuts in Canada
During my time in Canada, the consumption of doughnuts was quite frequent at small meetings. Whenever I was the host, donuts were always present. I often purchased a dozen or more for the office. When at construction sites, I usually got more than enough for the entire crew. The process was simple; I would visit a local Tim Horton's, and with a few fingers, I could order dozens of donuts for the staff. These expenses were covered on our expense account.
I usually only ate one doughnut myself, and even after retirement, my donut purchases have been limited. In the last four years, I have only bought donuts a couple of times due to someone else wanting one, and I only had one myself.
Local Bakery and Donuts
Fortunately, there is only one bakery in this small town, but it is one that produces doughnuts of exquisite quality. The two women who run it are not only exceptional at baking but also wonderful people to chat with. I make an effort to visit them at least once every couple of weeks. Additionally, this bakery has the honor of baking the cakes for both my wife's and my daughters' birthdays.
Overall, my donut-buying habits have undergone significant changes over the years, driven by various factors such as location, lifestyle, and personal preferences.
