Exploring the World of Cocktails: A Whiskied Journey

Hello, cocktail enthusiasts! Today, we embark on a delightful journey through the world of cocktails, focusing on various favorites from a unique blend to classic martinis. Whether you prefer a gentle sip of gin with tonic, a refreshing vodka cranberry, or the classic long island ice tea, there's something for everyone in this collection of tasty concoctions.

The Laverstoke: A Perfectly Balanced Prelude

For a truly sublime mix, try The Laverstoke cocktail. This delightful blend of high-quality ingredients creates a harmonious symphony in your glass. Here's the recipe:

Ingredients

2 parts 50ml Bombay Sapphire Gin 1 part 12.5ml MARTINI Bianco Vermouth 12.5ml St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur 4 parts 100ml Fever-Tree Refreshingly Light Ginger Ale (well chilled and freshly opened) 2 Lime wedges (gently squeezed) 1 Thin ginger root slice Optional: A Large mint sprig or rosemary (when using MARTINI Rosso)

Method

Squeeze and drop the lime wedges into a large balloon glass. Add the ginger slice. Add the non-carbonated/alcoholic ingredients. Swirl gently to infuse. Fill the glass with quality cubed ice. Stir to combine. Top up with chilled ginger ale. Garnish with a freshly awoken mint sprig or rosemary (optional).

Enjoy responsibly!

Personal Favorites: Spiced Whisky and Bitter Drinks

My preference for alcohol neat, particularly whisky, shifts to more mixed drinks when the urge strikes. Here are some of my favorite cocktails:

Long Island Ice Tea

A blend of rum, vodka, gin, triple sec, and cola served over ice, paying homage to its origin.

Dirty Martini

3 ounces of Bombay Sapphire Gin, 1 tablespoon white Vermouth, shaken over two ice cubes for 30 seconds. Strain and serve with a stuffed Maraschino or Tomolive olive (preferred).

Vulnerating the Vodka Realm: A Classical Refreshment

When it comes to vodka lovers, the mix of lemonade or cranberry juice adds a delightful twist. In this case, a twist means a sprig of fresh mint or a rosemary sprig. These refreshing drinks are perfect for a cozy evening or a relaxing afternoon, as they complement many meals just as well.

A Tommy's Margarita and Other Delights

For a Margarita aficionado, 60ml of Tequila, 30ml of lime juice, and 20ml of agave syrup create a delicious and refreshing pour. For those who prefer a smoky flavor, Mezcal can replace the Tequila, adding a unique twist to the experience.

For Minimalists: Whiskey on the Rocks

When it comes to whiskey lovers like me, the classic Whiskey Sour is a great choice but with a personal touch. In this case, it's served neat, with a zero-reference to ice. Just add a dash more if you need it to mix well with your meal.

Man of Drinks: A Selection of Personal Favorites

My personal favorites range from a Martini to a Bourbon Manhattan, Vesper, or an Americano. The choice depends on the time of year and the food pairing. Here’s a look at my go-to cocktails and their preparation:

Manhattan

In a Cocktail shaker, 2 ice cubes, 3 ounces of 80-proof Wild Turkey, 1 tablespoon of sweet Vermouth, 3 dashes of bitters. Stir vigorously for one minute. Strain and serve with a stem-on Maraschino cherry.

Martini

3 ounces of Bombay Sapphire Gin, 1 tablespoon white Vermouth. Shaken over two ice cubes for 30 seconds. Mke the shaker frosty. Strain and serve with a queen olive or a preferred Tomolive.

Americano

2 ounces Gordon's Gin, 2 ounces Campari, 1/2 ounce of sweet vermouth. Stirred well over ice and strained.

Vesper

3 ounces of Gordon's Gin, 1 ounce of Sky Vodka, 1/2 ounce of Lillet Blanc. Shake over ice until the shaker is frosty. Strain and serve with a long lemon twist.

Salty Dog

In a Kosher salt-rimmed brandy snifter, 3 ice cubes, 1.5 ounces Gordon's Gin, 1 ounce fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice.

Bloody Mary

In a shaker, 2 ice cubes, 2 ounces of Vodka, 2 tablespoons of Vladamir Hot sauce, 2 tablespoons of horseradish, 1 tablespoon of fresh-squeezed lemon juice, 2 splashes of Lea Perrins, 2 good shakes of celery salt, 19-ounce bottle of Clamato Juice.
