Exploring a Carnivore Diet: My Daily Menu and Meals

As someone who predominantly follows a carnivore diet, my meals are centered around meat, eggs, and small amounts of low-lactose dairy products. While I wouldn't strictly classify myself as a carnivore, my meals contain very little to no plant-based items, which is a hallmark of this diet.

My Daily Eating Habits

Given that I am teleworking, I now spend more time preparing and enjoying meals at home. In the past, my diet was approximately 75% meat and only 25% plant-based foods, but now, the ratio has shifted, although meat still plays a dominant role in my daily meals.

Weekly Routine

When I work three days a week at a daycare center, I consume meat-containing dishes about 90% of the time, with the other 10% being plant-based options such as fish. At home, every meal typically includes a meat dish, often accompanied by bread, rice, or potatoes, as well as various types of vegetables, though they may not always be fresh.

Home Cooking Exemplars

As an example, last night I enjoyed a classic spaghetti dish with a hearty Bolognese sauce, accompanied by garlic toast made from sourdough French bread, and a side salad of lettuce and watercress. For breakfast today, I had chicken cutlets with cheese, hashbrowns filled with onions, carrots, and corn, and pain de campagne with walnuts and raisins. My wife’s dish included a fried egg and a single chicken cutlet, which is a typical dinner for her.

Meal Structure

Meal 1

Typically, I start the day with a simple yet robust meal:

4 eggs A few slices of streaky bacon Some sausages A small portion of oily fish Black coffee

Meal 2

The second meal of the day is more varied:

A main course of various meats, which can be mammalian, avian, or piscine in nature The meats can be cooked either air-fried or pan-fried in butter Eggs are often added to this dish A glass of wine is generally consumed with this meal

Optional Course: Cheese and Spirit

Not every day, but some days, a course of cheese will be part of my meal. Occasionally, a small amount of spirits might be consumed.

The Carnivore Diet

Key Components

When following a carnivore diet, the primary focus is on:

Mainly meat, including beef, chicken, fish, especially salmon and sardines, goat, lamb, and turkey Small amounts of low-lactose dairy products like butter and lard Animal organs such as liver, and bone marrow

Exclusions

The diet strictly excludes all plant-based foods. Even beverages are limited:

Water Bone broth No tea, coffee, or plant-based drinks

This restrictive approach is what differentiates the carnivore diet from conventional diets, which often include moderate amounts of vegetables, fruits, and grains.
