Exploring New Hobbies During the Pandemic: A Journey of Self-Discovery

During times of uncertainty, such as the pandemic, individuals often find themselves with more time on their hands, leading to a search for new hobbies and activities to fill their days. This article explores how people, like me, have discovered and embraced new hobbies, enhancing our well-being and providing a sense of accomplishment.

Hobbies That Keep Us Busy and Engaged

One popular hobby is coin collecting. For some, like me, it is not just about the pleasure of the hobby; it can also be a form of investment. The value of coins can vary widely, and it provides a sense of focus and engagement as one studies the history and details of each piece.

Another individual discusses their newfound love for hair cutting. After purchasing a hair cutting kit and practicing regularly, they found that they could achieve better results than professional barbers. This hobby saves them time and money while also ensuring health and hygiene.

Home Activities During Lockdown

During the pandemic, home became the center of many activities. People found themselves spending more time on activities like exercising. Simple exercises at home can be a great way to stay fit while not having to leave the house. Card games, books, movies, and reading became more accessible and enjoyable, especially when done with friends or alone.

Developing and Switching Hobbies: A Personal Journey

I began my journey with cooking. Experimenting with recipes provided a sense of accomplishment and creativity. From there, I moved on to drawing and painting, where I started practicing modern calligraphy. Each new hobby offered its own unique challenges and rewards. In addition, I took up weight loss and participated in a challenge, which helped in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

With the transition to living on campus, I embraced new activities such as walking daily, dancing, and reading books. Each of these hobbies brought a sense of discovery and enjoyment, highlighting the importance of continually exploring new interests.

Forming Habits and Collecting Memories

The hobbies mentioned above, such as reading, poster making, and even singing, have provided not just entertainment but also a way to form memories and create a sense of routine. Me and my friend compiled our memories and created a shared experience by dividing our room into a kitchen and study area, as our own little space to be creative.

Currently, I am looking to learn a new sport. Basketball has always been a passion, but I am open to trying badminton as well. This reflects how individuals are willing to embrace and adapt to new experiences, even when it involves stepping out of their comfort zone.

Engaging in hobbies can not only alleviate stress but also provide new goals and a sense of purpose. Whether it is coin collecting, home-based activities, or pursuing new interests, these hobbies offer a way to cope with the challenges of the pandemic and discover new aspects of oneself.
