Favorite Chana Dal Recipe

Chana Dal is one of my favorite lentil dishes, and here's a recipe that never fails to impress:

Ingredients

1 cup Danfe's Chana Dal 1/2 cup Danfe's Sooji Flour 1/2 cup Spinach, finely chopped 1/2 cup Carrots, grated 1 medium-sized Onion, finely chopped 4-6 Curry Leaves, roughly chopped 1 tsp Ginger, grated 1-2 Green Chilies, chopped Fruit Salt to taste 1 tbsp Curd or Plain Yoghurt 1 tsp Olive Oil

Procedure

Sofak the chana dal overnight. Drain the excess water and grind the chana dal to a coarse paste. Add a little bit of water if needed. Combine the remaining ingredients (minus the fruit salt) in a mixing bowl and mix well. Add the chana dal and mix thoroughly. Just before serving, add the fruit salt and mix well. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Once hot, add a scoop of the batter to the skillet. Cook until one side is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown. Drizzle a little oil if necessary. Repeat the steps until all the batter is used. Serve hot with your favorite chutneys.
