Explaining Time Zones on a Flat Earth Theory

Explaining Time Zones on a Flat Earth Theory

Many adherents to the flat Earth theory come from the UK and believe the rest of the world is deluding them about 'the other half' being in darkness. According to this theory, they are at the center of the universe, which presents a significant challenge when explaining phenomena that have been thoroughly explained by modern science, such as time zones.

The Flat Earth Model

Central to the flat Earth theory is the idea of a flat Earth surrounded by a small hollow sun and moon, both of which remain the same size as they appear to be inside the Earth's atmosphere. This concept, while ideas about the sun and moon, seems to be proposed to explain the lack of a spherical Earth and the absence of time zones.

Challenges of Time Zones on a Flat Earth

Flat Earth believers struggle to explain time zones. Universally, unless there is another civilization beneath our side, there should only be one time zone. This idea has been a sticking point for flat Earth theory proponents, as they attempt to reconcile it with their belief in a flat Earth while insisting they are at the center of the universe.

Explanations and Theories

One flat Earth enthusiast suggested that the sun's light is blocked by mountains, creating the illusion of night in certain areas. This theory, while attempting to explain time zones, is widely deemed baseless and unnecessary. In reality, time zones are an outcome of the Earth's rotation and its position relative to the sun and other celestial bodies.

The Logical Flaws of Flat Earth Belief

Flat Earthers often state that rotation is irrelevant, as they can communicate with people in different hemispheres through the internet, who consistently experience night during the flat Earther's day and vice versa. However, their explanation for time zones remains deficient, suggesting a fundamental misunderstanding of basic scientific principles. Their stance on time zones highlights the extent of their ignorance and the refusal to consider scientific explanations.

In essence, flat Earth believers do not provide a logical or testable explanation for time zones. They either make it up out of whole cloth or assert that scientific explanations are fake. Without a valid and provable explanation, their theories remain unsupported and often sound ridiculous to those familiar with the basic principles of science.

There is no need for any manipulation of space between and shapes of date lines on a flat Earth map, as the flat Earth model fails to provide a coherent explanation for the observed phenomena, including time zones.
