Eating Outside vs Home Cooking: A Lockdown Perspective
The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically altered our daily lives, including the way we eat. Many have turned to home-cooked meals as a means of ensuring safety and maintaining a healthy diet. Let's delve into a personal perspective on eating outside versus home cooking during this lockdown period.
My Last Dine-out Experience
For me, the last time I enjoyed an outside cooked meal was on February 15, 2020, when I savored a vegetable pizza from my local pizza shop. That evening marked the beginning of a long wait before I could step into a restaurant again. The luxury of stepping out to eat has been a distant memory for over 4 months. My most recent dining experience was a Chole Bhature feast at my favorite restaurant on March 7, 2020. Even now, whenever I think about it, the taste still lingers in my mind, making me wish for those golden moments.
The Journey from Dine-outs to Home Cooking
As a food blogger, I used to enjoy dining out regularly, but with the outbreak of the coronavirus, I have had to adapt to home cooking. My wife and my brother-in-law have been instrumental in introducing me to various delicacies that I can now prepare at home. Home-cooked meals have become a comforting routine, and I am more than content with the delicious dishes we can create without the need to venture out.
Although it has been challenging at times, the pandemic has taught us the importance of basic health and the value of home-cooked food. It is not just about the taste but also the peace of mind that comes with knowing that our meals are prepared safely. In the current situation, the clear choice is to stay safe by cooking at home and minimizing social contacts.
The Future of Eating Out
While I currently have no plans to venture out to eat in the foreseeable future, the craving for outside food remains a distant temptation. However, with things slowly opening up and the situation improving, the day will come when I would venture out to enjoy a meal in a restaurant once more. For now, I rely on my home-cooked meals and occasionally satisfy my desires with street food items like Hot Jilebi.
Conclusion
Through this journey, I have learned that home cooking is not just a practical solution but also a source of comfort during these uncertain times. My love for home-cooked meals will surely endure, and the memories of my last dine-out experience will remain cherished.
