Creative Experiments with Apples: Apple Wax Removal and Apple Pickle
Apple Wax Removal Experiment
Hey, friends! I have to say, I recently engaged in a truly hilarious experiment with an apple. It's hard not to chuckle just imagining the scene, isn't it?
Back story: One day, I was reading about how apples are often coated with wax to make them look fresh and appealing. Intrigued, I asked my roommate to demonstrate how to remove the wax using a knife. Let me be clear, I was a bit shocked by the entire process. Fast forward to one evening, I had bought an apple that evening and was feeling a bit peckish due to some office munchies. Naturally, I pondered the challenge of removing the wax without using a knife. So, as an overzealous but lazier person, I turned to a simple workaround.
With a boiling water glass large enough for an apple, I placed the apple inside and left it for a few minutes. The outcome, much to my amusement, turned the apple into what looked like a dehydrated barbeque apple! Upon my friend's questioning, I explained my mischievous experiment, and she couldn't help but laugh. Just to clarify, the apple was perfectly edible after drying with a tissue, and it wasn't too bad to taste.
Apple Pickle Recipe
Five years ago, during a visit to the USA, I received a generous gift from a family friend—a basket full of backyard apples. These apples were not meant for eating plain, as they were incredibly sour. Feeling adventurous, I decided to come up with something unique and creative to do with them. And thus, the Apple Pickle was born!
The process was rather reminiscent of making lime pickle or grapefruit pickle. First, I steamed the apple pieces until they were tender. Then, I seasoned them with salt, jaggery (which was readily available there), powdered fenugreek, and chili powder. The finished product was then tempered with mustard seeds, asafoetida, cumin, and curry leaves. In the end, I stored it in the fridge for a month to let the flavors meld, creating a tantalizing little jar of goodness. Although I couldn't capture the moment, it looked similar to this:

The Strange World of Broken iPhones
I recently encountered a peculiar situation one fine day involving seven individuals and their iPhones. There were four people whose screens were broken, and none of them had the budget to repair them. Among the two others, both happened to break their screens on the same day, and they were still in the process of assessing the repair costs. Another individual broke his screen while showing off his iPhone 6. Of these seven folks, only one managed to repair their iPhone.
