Celebrating National Chocolate Day: A Sweet Celebration with MMs and More
Did you know that October 28th is National Chocolate Day? This year in 2019, I indulged in a few handfuls of MMs minis, but if I had been more vigilant, I would have planned a hearty celebration with a mix of chocolate treats. From dark chocolate pancakes for breakfast to chocolate bran muffins with hot chocolate for dinner, the possibilities are endless. Unfortunately, I raced towards a diabetic episode, which reminds me to be more mindful of my indulgences.
Today's Delight
Fast forward to October 29th, 2019, and my celebration was a bit more subdued. I enjoyed a Milky Way bar, which provided a satisfying late-night snack with its fusion of sweet caramel and chocolate. Little did I know it was National Chocolate Day until later, and I had already indulged in a handful of cookies and cream chocolate cupcakes and some mini Almond Joys.
My Lush Chocolate Imaginations
If only I had planned ahead! I imagined coating organic strawberries with melted fountain chocolate, a favorite method of indulging in this rich treat. In my old life, I would have gone all out with a Death by Chocolate cake, but now my chocolate consumption is limited to a few small bars per day. Despite these restrictions, I still enjoy a variety of chocolate products, including mint fudge, which my son loves. In fact, I shipped him three large pans of mint fudge last year, knowing that it could bring him joy for days!
A Celebration Fit for a King
On this special day, my son and I had our annual eye exam appointments. To combine our celebration and lunch, we planned to have a meal at The Cheesecake Factory. My son enjoyed the "Dream Extreme Oreo Cheesecake," while I requested a take-home slice of their "Chocolate Tower Truffle Cake" for my older son, who would be joining us for dinner. The Chocolate Tower Truffle Cake is a decadent chocolate creation, but is it worth the 1679 calories? Did the puffed whipped cream add to that count? Regardless, if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it, especially if you are a fan of chocolate cakes.
Enjoying Chocolate in Moderation
Although I indulge in chocolate, it is crucial to maintain a balanced diet. Walking it off after each bite is part of my routine. While the joy of shipping food and the delight of receiving it can be immense, it is equally important to savor the experience in moderation. Whether it is through dark chocolate pancakes, mint fudge, or a slice of The Cheesecake Factory's Chocolate Tower Truffle Cake, National Chocolate Day offers an excuse to indulge responsibly.
So, for all those chocolate lovers out there, make sure to celebrate National Chocolate Day with your favorite treats, keeping in mind the joy in moderation.
