A Comprehensive Analysis of Political Parties Supporting Droupadi Murmu’s Presidential Nomination
The BJP's decision to choose Draupadi Murmu as the presidential nominee has garnered significant political support across various states in India. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains a unified front, a number of opposition parties have also aligned themselves with the BJP in backing the nominee. This article provides a detailed analysis of which political parties from various states have chosen to support Droupadi Murmu, thus consolidating the BJP's position in the upcoming presidential election.
Andhra Pradesh
One of the first states to demonstrate its support for Droupadi Murmu is Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP, the ruling party in the state, announced its support for the BJP's nominee. Interestingly, the state's main opposition party, TDP, followed suit not long afterward. The BJP has been in an alliance with Jana Sena (JS), but a lone legislator from JSP left the party and joined the YSRCP. This legislator, along with the other YSRCP MLAs, will be voting for Murmu. Collectively, all votes from Andhra Pradesh will go towards supporting Draupadi Murmu for the presidential nomination.
Maharashtra
In the state of Maharashtra, the BJP's alliance partners, including Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde, RPI-A, and RSP, have aligned themselves with the BJP in supporting Murmu. The other political parties supporting the BJP government, such as the BVA, PJP, JSS, and PWPI, have yet to make their stance clear on the issue. However, Uddhav Thackeray's MNS has pledged its support for the BJP. Notably, even the Shiv Sena faction, led by Uddhav, has decided to support Murmu.
Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh's BJP allies, including Apna Dal (Sone Lal NISHAD), have unequivocally supported BJP's nominee, Droupadi Murmu. Additionally, opposition parties such as the BSP, SBSP, and JSDL have provided their backing to the BJP nominee.
Tamil Nadu
Several parties that had fought the previous year's elections with the BJP have given a clear assurance of support to their nominee. The AIADMK, PBM, and PMK, which fought together with the BJP, have pledged their backing to their chosen nominee.
Puducherry
In Puducherry, the governing AINRC, which works in tandem with the BJP, has also extended its support for the BJP's nominee, Droupadi Murmu.

Mizoram: The NDA partner MNF, which is now ruling the state, has decided to back the BJP nominee. It has no share in power with the BJP at the state level, but it has chosen to support the BJP's candidate. The opposition party ZPM has not yet made a decision.

Sikkim: The ruling SKM, which is part of the BJP alliance, has decided to back the BJP in the presidential election. However, the opposition SDF's stance is still unknown.
